Course Description

Curriculum Leader: Mrs J. Leman.

This is a NEW course that merges Accounting, Business Studies, and Economics into one subject at Level 1. Students will build the knowledge, skills and values they need to navigate and participate in the economic world. They will learn how to make financial decisions and analyse how those decisions impact sustainability. Students will:

  • Take an active role in their learning.
  • Work in teams to design, make, market and sell a product.
  • Create financial statements to work out a profit.
  • Participate in one field trip to observe the production process.
  • Learn about local, sustainable businesses, including future-proofing strategies.
  • Gain some personal financial literacy.

A 15 Credit NCEA Level 1 Course

This course includes 10 internal credits and 5 external.
