Performing Arts Technology covers ‘behind the scenes’ areas of the performing arts such as:

  • Costume

  • Make-up

  • Set and Props
  • Lighting
  • Completing various production roles

All level 3 standards are split into design and application. You can be assessed on one or both areas, allowing for each member of the class to select assessments based on their strengths. All design standards are worth 5 credits, and application standards are worth 4 credits. For example, you could choose to just do design for costume and Set/props and just practical for make-up and lighting.

Where possible we use authentic performance opportunities for our assessment contexts. For example, doing costume and lighting design for Class Plays or Music and Dance Showcases.

This course is internally assessed with no exams. Assessments are Unit Standards which are graded at A, M & E. These standards can count towards your overall NCEA certificate endorsement. Assessments do not contribute to UE or Rank scores.

Credits vary depending on assessment selection.
