Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Level 1 and/or Level 2 Materials Technology


This course demands a high level of student autonomy. Conceptual design, garment construction and applied design methods are the main aspects covered by NCEA level 3 assessments, with students required to analyse, evaluate and justify their work. With teacher guidance, students can tailor the content of this course to their personal interests and strengths. 

The course provides a solid foundation for those interested in tertiary study or employment in the design, fashion or textiles industry 

Internal assessment 12 to 16 credits. External assessment 4 credits.  

This course meets UE approval. 

Students can express their interest in Scholarship and suitable candidates will be supported to meet the extra level of requirements for this.
