Drama is a collaborative and creative subject where you will develop your confidence, teamwork skills, and critical thinking abilities. Year 13 Drama continues to develop use of conventions and techniques learnt in previous years.

There are 3 internal Achievement Standards:

  • Techniques, where your select and apply techniques to a scene of your choice.
  • Devising, where you work in groups to create a drama, usually in keeping with a given theatre form, e.g. physical theatre, epic theatre, etc.
  • Performing a substantial acting role, where you will perform as part of a class play.

The external exam requires you to watch and analyse a live theatre performance, talking about technologies, techniques, conventions and themes within the performance. In preparation for this external you will get the opportunity to attend a trip to see a professional theatre company perform.

Scholarship Drama will be offered to Level 3 Drama students wishing to further their understanding of Drama performance and practices. 14 internal credits, 4 optional external credits. The UE requirement of 14 credits can be gained internally through drama.
