Dance is a highly practical subject where you will regularly be up on your feet creating and learning. Over the year you will build on your knowledge and skills in choreography, performance and analysing dance. 

 Assessments:

  • Choreography. There are two choreography assessments where you will be guided through a choreographic process based around a theme. Choreographic themes in the past have included ideas such as, pieces of music, historical events, or your turangawaewae.
  • Performance. There are two performance assessments both focused around communicating an understanding of the style or intention behind the dance being performed. Past styles have included Bollywood dance, African dance, Contemporary dance and many more.
  • External Exam. This is optional and requires you to respond to and analyse a dance performance.

 You will get the opportunity to attend a dance trip to see a professional dance company perform.

16 internal credits, 4 optional external credits.
