Drama is a collaborative and creative subject where you will develop your confidence, teamwork skills, and critical thinking abilities. Throughout the programme you will continue to develop your skills and understanding of drama conventions and techniques to enhance your performance and devising skills.

Internal assessments are:

  • Exploring the function of Theatre Aotearoa, where you will learn about the role that theatre plays within Aotearoa through exploring one or more texts written by New Zealanders. The final assessment consists of a performance and supporting written work.
  • Participating in creative strategies to create a drama. This assessment will require you to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating whanaungatanga, to devise a drama based on prompts and workshopping done in class. The final assessment is a performance of your devised work and supporting written work.

The external assessment is a written report completed during class time and requires you to analyse a theatre performance.

You will get the opportunity to attend a trip to see a professional theatre company perform.

15 Level 1 credits, 10 Internal credits, 5 External credits.
