11DNC
Course Description

Curriculum Leader: Ms K. Finlay.

Recommended Prior Learning

Open Entry

Dance is a highly practical subject where you will regularly be up on your feet creating and learning. Over the year you will build on your knowledge and skills in choreography, performance and analysing dance.

The internal assessments, Performance and Choreography, are portfolio based and allow you to explore a range of choreographic prompts and dance styles. Past styles include Hip Hop, Contemporary, Bollywood, Salsa and more. These assessments are completed in groups and where possible, performed at one of our Music and Dance Showcases.

The external assessment is a written report completed in class. You will need to reflect upon a dance that you have choreographed or performed in throughout the year and discuss how the elements of dance have been used.

You will get the opportunity to attend a dance trip to see a professional dance company perform.

16 Level 1 Credits, 11 Internal credits, 5 External credits.
