Course Description

This course examines the media's role in society with a focus on close reading film, investigating the New Zealand film industry and producing a film. It offers you a wonderful opportunity to examine the media's role in shaping your world and to build on skills developed in Level 2 Media Studies. To succeed in this course, you must have strong writing skills and an ability to problem solve in practical activities. Level 3 requires significant independent and self-directed work completion. Students may complete production work individually or in a group.  


Internal assessment 13 credits.  External assessment 8 credits.  

Recommended Prior Learning

12 credits in Media Studies at Level 2 or entry possible for students with prior learning in Visual Arts, Digital Technology or media production.
